Budva Mediterranean
Mediterranean restaurants form the core of Budva's dining scene, built around fresh Adriatic fish, grilled squid, octopus salad, mussels in buzara sauce, seasonal vegetables and olive oil. Many source fish daily from local catches, with whole grilled sea bass or bream typically priced at €30–€50 per kilogram. Starters and salads run €5–€10, and main courses €10–€25. Most occupy terraces along the Slovenska Obala promenade or inside the Old Town walls, with views across the harbour to Sveti Nikola island. Buzara (a traditional sauce of white wine, garlic, olive oil and breadcrumbs) is the signature preparation for shellfish. Seasonal vegetables like chard, artichokes and aubergines feature prominently in spring and summer. Many restaurants display the day's catch on ice at the entrance, allowing diners to select and specify cooking methods (grilled, baked, or in sauce). Wines paired with seafood are predominantly local and regional varieties, with many restaurants offering house wine by the glass. Reservations are recommended for Friday and Saturday evenings, especially July–August.
