The Riviera stretches 25 kilometres from Jaz Beach in the north to Buljarica in the south, taking in Bečići, Rafailovići, Sveti Stefan, Pržno, Miločer, Petrovac and a string of smaller coves between them.

The Old Town is one of the oldest urban settlements on the Adriatic, with archaeological layers reaching back to Greek and Roman occupation and the present grid of stone lanes laid out under successive Venetian and Austrian rule. The Citadel anchors the seaward corner, the churches of Sveti Ivan and Sveta Trojica sit on the main square, and the Archaeological Museum holds finds from the Necropolis and the original Greek port. The 1979 earthquake levelled much of the walled city and the rebuild that followed reused the original stone according to surviving plans.

Visitors arrive at Tivat airport 20 kilometres north or Podgorica 65 kilometres inland, and pick up the Adriatic Highway down the coast. Boat tours from the marina run to Sveti Nikola Island, the Sveti Stefan coast and full-day trips to the Bay of Kotor and the Blue Cave. Restaurants line the Slovenska promenade and fill the Old Town squares; nightlife concentrates on the seasonal hillside clubs and beach bars between Slovenska and Bečići.
