Moderna Galerija "Jovo Ivanović" operates inside the walled Old Town of Budva and holds more than four hundred works arranged across five collections: contempor…Moderna Galerija "Jovo Ivanović" operates inside the walled Old Town of Budva and holds more than four hundred works arranged across five collections: contemporary Expressionists at the heart, a Montenegrin section including Petar Lubarda and Milo Miličević, a local-art collection of Budva-region painters from the late nineteenth century onward, a foreign-art collection of around one hundred and fifty works, and a Naive collection built up after the 1979 earthquake that includes pieces from the Hlebine School.

The gallery was founded in 1972 and renamed in 2018 after Jovo Ivanović, the Budva-born painter and pedagogue who set it up and ran it for over three decades. It hosted the first International Painting Collection in Montenegro in 1974, drawing Renato Guttuso, Oscar Estruga, Milić od Mačve, Božidar Jakac, Salah Taher and Milan Tucović, and continues to programme rotating shows, with recent and upcoming openings featuring Dada Đurjanović, Renato Rakić and Svetlana Sedlan.
