Budva Pharmacy

Pharmacies (apoteka) in Budva operate throughout town, with the largest concentrations along Slovenska Obala and in the Old Town. Opening hours are typically 08:00–19:00 Monday to Friday, 08:00–13:00 on Saturday, and closed Sundays (though one 24-hour pharmacy operates on rotation). Many medications available over the counter in Western Europe require a prescription here, so consulting the pharmacist is worthwhile. Prices are competitive within the Balkan region, often significantly cheaper than Northern or Western Europe. Staff speak English and German. Payment is cash or card. Antibiotics require a local doctor's prescription. EU residents with a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) can receive subsidised prescriptions. Common items like paracetamol, ibuprofen and antihistamines are widely available without prescription. Many pharmacies stock personal care items, sunscreen and basic first aid supplies. Prescription refills may take 24 hours if the medication is not in stock.
